North Down sign Aditya Adey from Muckamore

North Down have strengthened their squad this evening with the addition of Aditya Adey from Muckamore.

Adey is considered one of the best young players in the NCU, regularly being named in Emerging Knights squads and was already a major player for Muckamore, who were relegated from the Robinson Services Premier League last season.

While he didn’t have his best season in 2019 after scoring 348 runs at an average of 15.82, he will be viewed as a major addition to North Down’s middle order and will look to thrive alongside Alistair Shields, Ruhan Pretorius and Peter Eakin.

He also adds another pace option with the ball alongside the current ones which include Pretorius, Eakin and Craig Young, who is currently in the UAE with Ireland as they look to qualify for the World Twenty20.

This is the second player North Down have signed from Muckamore in the past two seasons, with Adey joining wicketkeeper Jamie Magowan who made the switch ahead of last season.

The Comber side will be looking to take another step towards silverware in 2020 having finished two points behind league winners CIYMS.

It’s another blow for Muckamore who lost captain Neil Gill last week to Carrickfergus.
